Well, today demonstrated the importance of routine maintenance checks. My 22 year furnace wants to retire. It said so by developing 2 small cracks. It is tagged and gas turned off for safety. Air conditioner disconnected for future regrading project.

He went thru my thermostat and gave me a complete tutorial. Previously I never could figure out the vacation mode.

I had an error message on my thermostat, and called Peak to check it out. The error showed a possible coil freeze up. It's a cool and rainy day today, and the technicians knew that they could not properly test the A/C system. I did have them do a furnace check since they were here (I would have done one this fall anyway, now we are ready for winter!) and rescheduled my A/C check to do in a few weeks...hopefully there won't be any snow in the forecast! I appreciated the techs explaining the testing process to me, and how the weather needs to be warmer to accurately test the system. They didn't want to waste my time or money, and wanted to provide the best service they could.
